Weird question from a bride - Page 6

They were pretty late setting up. They were still putting it together when the guests arrived. Stuff happens, bakeries do things I wouldn't do and vice versa!

See Lauren, it is done, but go one better and make your business card out of icing so that it is edible.

Not to insult your Dad, Norasmum, and it was not meant as an insult, just as an observation.  We have had  friends who are radiologists over the years and they have spent many hours at our house and altruism was not on their minds, believe me.  From my observations I would say that your Dad was the exception rather than the rule.  And Yes, they are extremely intelligent people, and I personally think that is what causes a lot of their inability to deal with people such as patients on an everyday level.  I use to call them 'pickled boys' as they had not aged socially.  One friend loved the term and said it was so true.  He had been so far ahead of his peers that he didn't have friends growing up and was only learning to socialise at 32 years of age.

My hubbies good friends are both dentists, and lemme tell you, they are not in that field for helping mankind. They're feeding their hunting, sport shooting, and cigar hobbies.
Well, all good things must come to an end sometimes. Hey, is that a cake?

Every profession probably has a pretty good division of people who want to help people and others who just look at it as a job. My father went to seminary when I was in high school, and I can tell you firsthand that there are plenty of ministers who are really out there trying to help people, and plenty others who are in it for the ego rush of people thinking they have a direct line to God, and others who are really, really interested in what the offering plate has in it each week. No profession is immune as long as human beings are how they are.

My favorite is, "Never underestimate the stupidity of the public".  Because MOST OF THEM ARE.  And even after you explain things some of them still give you that bedfuddled over-my-head-and-out-the-window look that, depending on my mood, either amuses me or causes even more steam to come out of my ears.

remember that Dr. Dyer also had a chapter called "Clerks are Jerks".
