Ok so I'm making a jungle baby shower cake (gad I'm sick of them--someone around here come up with a different theme already!)...so I made my fondant/gumpaste palm trees and leaves and a few figures last night...they're still too soft, so I put them in the oven with just the light on to help with drying.

Along comes my husband who decides to 'help' me by roasting a chicken for dinner.  (I think we all know where I'm going with this).  Long story short...I now have a glaze of melted fondant on my sheet pan and a passel of stuff to remake!  AAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

That chicken better taste damn good is all I've got to say!   icon_cry.gif

Beginners, be sure to parrot advice and get your post count up as fast as you can. After all, it's not what you know, it's what people THINK you know.

Oh, when I do stuff and put it in the oven, I tape the knob over with an x of tape, or a clean Band-Aid.

Great idea! I will definitely do that from now on. Fortunately I had time to make more...they're drying as we speak..it's just a PIA and time killer. And did I mention I am SICK of jungle cakes? So to have to repeat making the stuff was irritating. Oh well..the chicken was pretty tasty after all so I forgive him! For now.icon_biggrin.gif

I am rofl... I have to pee.  I am so sorry, But those rank up there with the DH or other men in the family who Bless their Hearts want to help but can't read the instructions to save their life.  Like When to turn off the oven so the cake doesn't burn, dry out.  Or the difference between 1 cup and 1 gallon of liquid.  Or you send them to buy baking chocolate and they return with a giant Hershey Candy Bar.  Gotta love them.

Carmijok, I love your use of the word passel in your original post. I don't know why, but it made me smile..I think I've had to interact with one too many imbeciles today and your comment restored my faith in intelligent people and that they do still exist.icon_biggrin.gif

I'm in the UK and we don't have wedding/baby showers  here - not yet anyway. Why would someone choose a jungle theme when they're having a baby, surely it's all pastel colours and cute little baby stuff.

I can't believe you don't do showers over there!  Now's your chance to start a trend!   May I suggest a jungle theme...

Honestly I don't know what the thrill with the jungle theme is...but it's still going strong here.   Think baby animals and giraffe and zebra prints.  I liked doing it the first couple of times and then it gets old trying to come up with something you haven't done before.  They all start looking alike after a while.    Here's the cake I did:  http://cakecentral.com/g/i/2980980/a/3335646/baby-jungle-cake/
