Butter Cream Icing Questions??

How do you change the flavor of your butter cream icings?
Ive been using Duncan Hines icing but they melt very fast when left out on display. I want to make my icing from scratch so that it lasts in the heat and humidity. Can you provide me with any tips, tricks or hints to achieve these goals?
You can use various flavor extracts like vanilla, mint, strawberry, etc. (even root beer) You can find them online, or at your local grocer (though they cost more there I have found).
Please make your own buttercream! That Duncan Hines tub frosting is nasty stuff and it's expensive.
There are so many yummy recipes on this site. Go to the recipe section and find one that has a good rating.
It is soooooo easy to make icing yourself :) And flavoring is a personal thing - you can do anything you want almost. If the recipe calls for vanilla as the flavoring there is *nothing to say you can't change it*!
I always used a mixture of vanilla, butter flavoring and almond. Others use a citrus base like vanilla and lemon or orange. Again, there is NO reason not to use whatever you want as far as flavorings go :)
I can't link you to the recipe but look for "Two of everything" - it's a great, easy recipe to use.
AThanks for the help! the link worked so i will try it!!!! THANKS AGAIN (its hard for me to get a response on here)
Most of your questions are answered in the sections "recipes" and "how do I". Instead of waiting for somebody to post a specific response to a very general question, please go to those sections of Cake Central and read until you find an answer.
You would also do well to take some local baking lessons, because asking how to change the flavour of an icing is something that is taught in schools across North America to 12 year old children.
A@bakingirene forgive me for not knowing, but I was under the impression that CC was a place where I could ask these types of questions. Im fairly new to the site and am still trying to learn the ins and outs. And further more when i was 12 they didnt teach me how to flavor butter cream icing in school, nor did they teacg my 12yr old son. So for future reference if you can not respond in a positive manner, i suggest you dont respond at all!!!! (at least to my posts). So thank you for TRYING to help, but if thats how you respond I DONT WANT YOUR HELP!!! :( have a blessed day!
