Peach And Silver Anniversary Cake
Created for a 25th wedding anniversary. Airbrushed wafer paper for the roses and leaves. Tried the pleated buttercream look (really like), and airbrushed it a very light silver. Nice to do a pretty cake once in a while :) And I really love wafer paper roses. Thanks for looking :)

One Grumpy Onion
I love that my kids inspire me to keep my sense of humor when it comes to cake. My oldest son, Logan, is a big Plants vs Zombies fan, so I used the ‘Stunion’ as my inspiration for his 14th birthday cake this year. Last year, we did the ‘Snapdragon’, so I wonder what it will be next year? LOL I’ve wanted to do a flower pot cake for a while, and I like this rather nontraditional version. Thanks for looking! :)

My Geppetto - The Beginning
I created this piece for the ‘When You Wish Upon a Star’ collaboration. I wanted to do a realistic Geppetto, and while I originally was going to do a cute little Pinoke, it ended up rather ‘the beginning’, with Geppetto about to carve Pinocchio from a tree branch. I am not experienced with sculpting people, so this was a huge challenge for me – hope you enjoy! xxx Here is a link to all the other pieces, in case you haven’t seen them yet :) Thank you :) https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.788240441253920.1073741827.788223141255650&type=3

My Tree Lovers For Greece
This was my contribution to the collaboration Love Around the World 2015, and was inspired by the Greek myth of Baucis and Philemon. Granted a wish by the gods to never be apart, and to die together, they changed into trees upon their death, their branches intertwining, binding them together forever. I can count the number of times I've done anything with human faces on one hand, so that was the biggest challenge for me - to not only sculpt them well, but to impart emotion. I wanted my peaceful tree lovers to reflect not only unity, but harmony and contentment.

My Vining Rose Cake For Bella
I created this baby shower cake for my niece, Isabella. I have been wanting to try wafer paper, so this cake is covered with wafer paper petals, and all of the roses and leaves are wafer paper that I airbrushed. The board is fondant that I distressed and painted with food colors. Thanks for looking! :)

Bat Creature Cake
Made for my nephew's birthday, and inspired by the movie Dracula Untold. The bat creature is modeling chocolate and fondant over a wire armature. The rest of the cake was inspired by a beautiful poster for the movie, and is sponged/hand-painted food colors onto fondant. This cake gave me fits, mostly because I didn't have a solid plan, but love how it all came together!

3D Spider Cake
I made this cake for my nephew. My sis asked me to make him something superhero-ish for his birthday. The board is airbrushed fondant, and then the web was hand-painted. The spider's abdomen is the cake covered with a fondant and modeling chocolate mix, and his 'face' is rkt and modeling chocolate. His legs are modeling chocolate over a wire armature. Challenging cake to make, but I super duper love him!

Pumpkin Cake For Fall
I finally got to do a sculpted pumpkin cake! I made this sweet potato spice pumpkin cake for a dear friend. It was my first time airbrushing a cake as well :) All leaves, berries, and the stem are gumpaste. The fondant board is detailed to look like weathered wood (hand-painted). Thanks so much for looking! :)

Princess In Pieces
It was so cool to be a part of the Sugar Spooks collaboration this year! My twisted piece was inspired by the story 'The Princess and the Pea'. It was my first time incorporating a little gore - ha! more fun than I thought it would be! I hope everyone has had a chance to visit www.SugarSpooks.com to see all the fantastic pieces! Thanks for looking :)

Creepy Eyes
My youngest celebrated his 6th birthday over the weekend, and loves Halloween and all creepy things. This slime-oozing cake, featuring an icky eyeball creature, was inspired by his book ‘Goodnight Goon’ as well as his love of trashpack trashies, germies, and crashling aliens. The cake was lemon pound cake filled with lemon buttercream and covered with fondant. The ‘slime’ was tinted piping gel, thinned with corn syrup and water. I made the eyeball creature from floral wire, covered with modeling chocolate, fondant, and royal icing. I then painted them with food colors, and added confectioner’s glaze to the eyeballs for some shine. This was a fun cake to make, and Austin loved it! Thanks for looking.

Rustic Buckets With Flowers
I love it when I get freedom with a cake design! I was inspired by a beautiful painting I saw a few weeks ago. Maple pecan spice cake with maple spice buttercream, covered with fondant that I textured and hand-painted. I was going for a sandstone look with the board. The leaves and flowers are made from gumpaste. Thanks for looking!

Owl Cake
I created this cake for my niece Morgan's 9th birthday. I was sent a pic of the owl she wanted, so I am not sure who the original creator of that particular owl design was - cute though! It is an all buttercream cake, except for the tree and owl - those are made out of modeling chocolate. The cake was chocolate filled with cookies and cream buttercream. Thanks for looking!

My Michael Jackson History Piece
I created this for the Michael Jackson HIStory collaboration in honor of MJ's birthday. My inspiration was the Smooth Criminal video. I thought it'd be cool to create a painting of him with a grungy brick frame. I found a beautiful picture online that I attempted to recreate with fondant and food colors. My husband also built a simple stand for me - thanks hubs ;) And thanks for looking! :)

Rainbow Trout Cake
I created this for a young fisherman turning 11. He loves fishing and wanted a cake with a rainbow trout on it. All the sculptural elements were made from rkt, modeling chocolate, and fondant, and then hand-painted. Cake and board were covered in fondant that I also hand-painted. Wow! This one took a long time, but really feel happy with it, and loved seeing the birthday boy’s face when he saw it. Cake was white chocolate chip, filled with vanilla bean buttercream and salted caramel. Thanks for looking! :)

My Daughter's 10Th Birthday Cake
My daughter Jasmine wanted something that combined her love of basketball and animal print. The basketball is rkt and covered w/ modeling chocolate and fondant. The cake is raspberry cake filled with lemon buttercream. I added black and white buttercream ruffles to the sides of the cake as a nod to zebra stripes, and added a fondant disk to the top of the cake and board – onto which I painted the leopard print. The bow is made from fondant. Thanks for looking! :)

A Cake For Ella
I created this sweet elephant themed cake a few weeks ago for my niece Ella’s 1st birthday. It is a chocolate cake filled with vanilla buttercream and no-bake chocolate chip cookie dough, and covered with buttercream ruffles. The flower is a wafer paper flower, and the elephant is made from modeling chocolate. I also made some coordinating cupcakes with modeling chocolate and wafer paper discs. Thanks for looking ;)

Pvz Birthday Cake
This is an odd cake – but it is what my now 13-year-old son has been asking for all year as his birthday cake. And I am a sucker for my kiddies and will do just about anything for them ;) It is based on a video game he is obsessed with – Plants vs Zombies. The cake was inspired by the wild west game level, and the plant on top is a snapdragon. Logan wanted to keep the snapdragon, so I built up modeling chocolate over a styro ball and wire. I was really glad I did that and didn’t use rkt, as he ended up being really heavy. I also created the fence, cacti, cow skull/bones out of modeling chocolate. The cake itself was chocolate filled with brown sugar buttercream and salted caramel. I was pretty rough with the fondant and was attempting to get a rocky look as in the game. I wish I would’ve used ganache to keep things sharper, but it all worked out pretty well anyway ;) I also added some royal icing for additional texture before painting the fondant with food colors. Logan loved it and we are going to shelve the snapdragon next to his graboid from last year’s birthday :) Thanks for looking! :)

Baby Dress Cake
I made this for my little sister Jolene. She is having a baby girl next month (can’t wait of course!). I was inspired by one of her baby dresses, and used the colors of her shower. Given the shower colors, I had to go with lemon cake, lemon curd, and cream cheese buttercream. The dress detail is modeling chocolate. Thanks for looking :)

Roses For Valentine's Day
Yes, another painted rose cake! I just can't help it - I love roses :) And it is nearly V-Day. :) I've been wanting to try the red on black for a while. Heart topper is gumpaste w/ some black lace cut-outs, roses are gumpaste, and I painted onto the black fondant w/ food colors. Thanks so much for looking! :)

My Dragon And Skull Cake
This was my last cake of 2013. I created this cake for my nephew’s birthday. I was excited to do this one as it’s been a year since I’ve been able to do anything dragon related. I have been wanting to try a skull too, and was inspired by some tattoo art for this cake design. This evil skull is a rkt sculpture, with modeling chocolate, fondant and ri. The dragon is also a rkt sculpture, with fondant and modeling chocolate. The wings do have a wire frame, and are inserted into straws that are embedded in the dragon. The cake itself was a chocolate cake, with caramel buttercream and a salted caramel drizzle, covered with fondant. Thanks for looking!

My Skeleton Ninja Cake
I created this cake for my nephew's birthday. He loves superheroes and ninjas, so I chose to do a ninja cake, but with a twist. I guess I was still feeling the Halloween spirit :) This was the first topper I did that used a wire frame, as I wanted the ninja to be posed, and wasn't sure how to do it any other way. The skull ninja has modeling chocolate over his wire frame. The cake was chocolate, filled with vanilla buttercream and chocolate ganache. The cake was covered in fondant, textured and then painted with food colors. The throwing star was made out of modeling chocolate. Thanks for looking :)

A Pumpkin Monster Birthday Cake
This is the scary Halloween/birthday cake my 5-year-old son requested! :) He had such a cute cake last year, but told me way ahead of time he was ready for something different this year, lol. I was inspired by some ground-breakers for this cake. The evil pumpkin monster is made from rkt, fondant, modeling chocolate, and gumpaste. He’s textured with royal icing, and painted with food colors and paint brushes. I really didn’t feel like I knew what in the heck I was doing while making this guy, and made a lot of mistakes. But I think I got the creepy look I wanted, and my son was very happy with him! I know whenever I am going to try something new, that I can always trust my kids to take that leap of faith with me! :) The cake is two layers of pumpkin spice, filled with brown sugar buttercream and salted caramel. I covered the cake with fondant, textured and then painted it. Then I added some crushed cookies for texture, but not sure that I was entirely happy with that decision. The leaves are made from gumpaste. Thanks for looking!

White Pumpkins
Creating this cake was one of those rare opportunities where I was given free reign with the design. The recipient of this cake is someone for whom I have deep respect and admiration, so I was ecstatic to be a part of her birthday surprise. She’s a lucky lady to have such a thoughtful husband :) I wanted to do something hand-painted, but try something new as well. As it is fall, I thought pumpkins - but beautiful, elegant, white pumpkins. The cake is sweet potato spice, filled with spiced brown sugar buttercream and candied pecans. The cake is covered with fondant, onto which I hand-painted the pumpkins and flowers (with food colors). The white pumpkins are made out of rkt and covered with a fondant and modeling chocolate blend. The flowers and leaves are made from gumpaste. I am really enjoying painting on cakes, and was happy to get to try something new!
