In The Spirit Of Fancy Nancy
I made this cake for a client of mine to take to the expos that she is doing this summer. She has added my cakes to her party packages, and wanted to have a dummy cake to show her potential clients. She text me before the first expo even started and said that she had broken the crown. )0: She was able to fix it for the show (it wasn't perfect, but it was good enough). At her second expo, one of her employees bumped into the crown and it broke into pieces. Ahhh... the joys of gumpaste. It doesn't matter how many times you emphasize how fragile it is... It is bound to get broken sooner or later if you don't treat it like a baby... Gotta love it! Needless to say, I am now in the process of figuring out how to remove the old crown, and reattach a new one without having to redo the whole top of the cake. Yikes!!! (0:

A Princess And Her Castle
As a little girl, I always loved pretending that I was a princess in a beautiful castle. When requested to make a castle cake for a young girl turning 6, I was elated! Pinks, purples, sparkles, everything girlie, and of course, "everything chocolate" was the request... Such a fun cake to make for such a darling little girl!

Jessica's Wedding Cake
This is a wedding cake that I made last week. The bride requested brown satin ribbon (which was a pain to find in 2.5 inch). The bottom layer was french vanilla, with traditional buttercream filling. The top two layers were dark chocolate cake with raspberry mousse filling. Simple, yet elegant design. On a side note, I had ordered a cake stand to display this cake on, and it arrived the day before the wedding (late), and broken into a million pieces. Ugh!!! The horror! The original design was meant for the bow to be in the center of the bottom layer, and hang off over the edge of the cake stand. On a second side note... the company sent me a new stand. It arrived yesterday, and it was the WRONG stand, and the stand I want is now out of stock!!! Double UGH!!!

This is a cake that was made for an anniversary gift. The husband asked me to replicate their original wedding cake without his wife knowing. I went to their house one evening and she showed me some pictures of their wedding, and of their cake. She talked about how badly she disliked her original cake. I must admit, it wasn't super fantastic. It was buttercream instead of fondant (not that there is anything wrong with buttercream, she just wanted fondant), and she wanted deep red roses with a few rose petals randomly placed on the cake. Instead, there were tons, and I mean tons, of differently colored roses and rose petals that had just been dumped over the top of the cake. I started to worry that my job was going to be to replicate this cake that she did not like. I told her husband that I would really like to make the cake that she originally wanted, and he agreed. It was so fun to take it to her and see the surprise on her face. She said it was exactly how she wanted her wedding cake to be. It was nice to be able to make her so happy! (0:

Philadelphia Eagles
My husband lost "food bet" at work. Generally, they just bet each other a sandwich, or a drink or something, but he came home and asked me to make this cake because his friend at work wanted one. My husband is now betting away my time at work... Nice!!! Anyways, it ended up to be a good learning experience. New fondant, and first time hand carving a figure. It is good to be able to experiment when you aren't making a cake for a client! (0:

The belly cake is covered with original marshmallow fondant and sprinkled with edible glitter.
