I got inspiration for this cake from CakesbyDusty's Jazilyn cake as well as the multitude of "Up" cakes on here. The birthday girl wanted a "balloon cake".

This cake was, of course, inspired by the Cake Girls black and white lace cake. This was my first attempt at such detailed piping. I was concerned about getting the royal icing black enough, but it worked out fine with Americolor's Super Black.
I used a cordial mold to make the upper part of his hat. I put a little black melted candy in the mold, added a Rolo, and covered it over with more black melt. After 5 minutes in the freezer, they popped right out of the molds. The hat brim was made using an 1/8 measuring cup.
I made these as little gifts for family friends. A cute and tasty centerpiece.
I used a template from a Gingerbread book for this one. It was a little precarious, especially getting the carousel reindeer poles to stay put.
Necco wafer ax, tootsie roll tree stump, laffy taffy doormat, golden graham shingles, royal icing fence and bench.
I used orange candy clay for the eyelids.
I used pieces of candy corn for the rhino ears and horns. Same for the zebra ears. The giraffe ears are white chocolate chips with orange tic tacs for the "horns". Colored coconut and an m&m nose for the lion. Finished the decorating with Americolor's Gourmet Writers.
All decor is fondant. Cards were left to dry before drawing on them with Americolor Gourmet Markers. Main cake covered with chocolate MFF.
Square wedding cake covered with MFF. Studded with mini sugar pearls. The middle tier has diamond quilting, done with a homemade diamond cutter and gone over with a roll cutter.
Cake entered in the Alaska State Fair.
The tower is cake, the top "house" part is RKT. The figures are a playset..
The big tier has a layering of rainbow colored WASC cake as a surprise from the groom to his bride. :o)
The clubhouse is formed from RKT, except the red dome which is cake that was baked in a pyrex bowl. The figures are from a Disney playset.
I loved making this cake. Smooth buttercream is not my strength. So I really enjoyed the opportunity to make a cake with buttercream in a random textured finish.
