Thomas The Tank Engine
14 inch round covered in buttercream- topped with 6 in for Thomas face, square cut for Thomas' body. Used chocolate rocks, rock candy, cotton candy, sparkle gel covered mini ice cream cones for trees. Covered Thomas' face with fondant. Used tons of super pearl dust for whole cake of Thomas coming out of a rocky tunnel. My son was thrilled with it!

Lego Birthday
Stacked Lego's covered in fondant and super pearl. Used square and rectangular cakes and cut out circles with measuring cups for the Lego bumps. Lego man was made out of Rice Crispies- covered in fondant and white choclolate(flesh colored)- when ran out of fondant at 1 am! He was a little too bumpy but my son still loved it. Definately need to work on my Rice Crispie figures. Do you cover them with buttercream before fondant? I didn't and am wondering if that will help next time.

Batman Preschool Grad Oreo Buttercream
Added finely crushed Oreos to my regular buttercream frosting(scraped out Oreo frosting- too sweet)- was a nice, stiff frosting to frost with- loved working with it- had only used for cupcakes before. Son's "graduation" from preschool and wanted something with the Batman symbol on it. "watch out kindergarten- here comes Colin" is what it says- you'd have to know him to understand. Took very little time to finish and I had fun making it.

Star Wars Snowspeeder
My first sculpted cake made in 2006 for oldest sons 5th birthday. Used his favorite toy as model. Covered in buttercream, used white chocolate to cover large pretzel sticks for guns. Had to cover up the bottom of cake that was too deep for the ship so used buttercream"clouds". Have pictures of step by step and the finished cake next to the inspiration toy.

Daughter's Christening Gown Replica Cake
First time attempting a dress. Will try to make it a little less stiff next time but I still love this because it really did look like the Christening gown my Mom made for my first little girl(after 3 boys!)- The real gown was made from family heirloom cotton lace pillowcases made for my great grandparents Wedding night and had amazing detail that I tried to capture with a fondant writer. I used super pearl for the whole thing and made a replica of my mom's cross that my daughter ( and I ) wore.

Indiana Jones Birthday Cake
14 inch round, buttercream frosted topped w/ thin 8 in round for brim of Fedora, stainless steel bowl used for top of hat and sculpted down- coverd with fondant. Fondant/gumpaste Arc of the Covenant, snakes, Holy Grail, Crystal Skulls, Idols, boulders, map,Indy's Dad's journal and Indy'y whip. The only thing I didn't make is the Indy figure on top- one of my sons fave toys. Used food coloring markers, buttercream, pearl dust and painting for highlights. Had to watch and rewind all Indy movies multiple times to get details right because husband and 3 sons are huge Indy fans and were my biggest critics on this one.
