Mastodon Cake Contest Local Entry
Ok, I've never done a contest before and I'm hoping I at least meet the theme... 30 Years of Mastodon Art & Science Fairs. I sculpted a Mastodon head from fondant and then accented with our state flower the dogwood. I''m sure I'm not botanically totally 100% accurate but that's why I entered as an armature! :) It's a triple layer, two tier, WASC cake with Raspberry Filling and marshmallow fondant accents! Wish me luck!

Aloha Waterfall Tiered Cake
Here was my 40th Birthday cake for myself. Talk about the party that didn't happen. I didn't care if there was no party I still made the cake! Fondant waterfall, luster dusted, gumpaste palm trees and gumpaste plumeria flowers, my favorite. Just wish I could have been in Hawaii instead! The kids loved it though. Enjoy!! Thanks for all the great ideas and inspiration.

60Th Wedding Anniversary
60th is so tough because the color for 60 is white. This was my first attempt at making my own cake topper from gum paste and I think it turned our well. The cake was White Almond Sour cream with Ribbon Roses and butter cream leaves and fondant drapes all luster duster with a white pearl. My drapes turned out well as I finally got the knack in rolling them very thin. The couple, a family member, loved, loved, loved it and it was quite a surprise. It was also transported on my lap for almost 3 hours.

Pirates Of The Carribean Treasure Chest
Pirate Treasure Chest. White Almond Sour Cream Cake, three layers with Satin Ice Fondant, scored and painted to look like wood and luster dusted. Fondant Pearls, accents, edible sugar rock candies, plastic coins and pirate figures from the Disney store from the movie. Fondant treasure map draping from chest. Crushed vanilla wafer sand. The boys had to find the treasure clues before they found the treasure chest cake... Thank you to all the CC folks that posted great inspiration and instructions!

Bunco Winter Birthday
Here was a cake for my MIL who had a Bunco group and one of the gals was having a birthday. It's an oreo cookie cake with oreo BC icing for the filling then plain BC for the outside. Diamond impression mat with the edible silver balls and a hand painted design to match the napkins she had. I think it turned out well and I matched the napkins OK. It was sort of fun 'painting' on a cake. I've only ever tried this once before and not this much. Enjoy!

New Years Clock Cake
This was our cake for a Hawaiian New Years Party. So many inspirations from CC members. I'm sorry I didn't keep track of the 3-4 main ones I inspired this cake from. It's champagne cake covered in MMF with champagne flavoring and then RI roman numerals and hands for the clock. Once dried they were luster dusted and a mini-bottle of champagne added with fake ice chips and a Hawaiian plumeria out of gumpaste finished it off. Enjoy and thank you to all!!!

Pink & Green Bridal Shower
Just your basic champagne cake from the CC recipe list. Champagne flavored BC icing and the ribbons and silk flowers. Very easy but it turned our quite nice and the bride to be loved it. The ribbon on my cake drum seems off but really it wasn't. The camera just brought it out brighter than the flowers. They were almost identical actually. Enjoy and thanks for looking.

Pirate Ship
This was our son's 4th birthday cake. All chocolate except the blue buttercream icing. The bottom is a 10" round with two oval pans stacked and carved for the boat. The gold decorations are royal icing then painted with luster dust. The figures are toys and while I know I could have done them I opted for just paper sails on bamboo sticks. This was a lot of fun to make and a lot of inspiration goes to many different CC inspiration cakes. Thanks everyone for posting. Enjoy!!

Tinkerbell's Pixie Hollow - Birthday Cake For My Daughter
Obviously the characters are toys and some have stands but the tree trunk/stump is rice crispies with fondant and then luster dusted with gold. There are gumpaste flowers as well as royal icing. Fondant mushrooms and a waterfall. This cake was sooooo much fun and my daughter told me where and how she wanted everything and she said it was perfect so if the birthday girl loves it then it's perfect. Cake was a strawberry cake... the birthday girl requested it too! Enjoy!!

Nativity Cake
This was our Family Christmas Cake. I took some pictures with the lights off and the candles lit on this cake stand. You can sort of see the edible glitter around the town of Bethlehem on the back.... I was really pleased with how this all turned out. I made the figures out of a 50/50 gumpaste/fondant mix so they'd harden well. My palm tree design came from pinkbunny and the stable just one I had seen and then cut out the pieces from the 50/50 mix and let it all dry. Enjoy! (The cake is WASC.)

Snowman Snowglobe Cupcake Cake
Thanks to tripletmom for the idea. This is a small cupcake cake for my son's cub scout den Christmas party. I also used a real carrot for his nose because I didn't want to mix up orange icing... :) They hopefully get to eat them this week. The party got postponed a week due to weather so they've been in my freezer! I hope they defrost OK. Happy Holidays!

Gobble Gobble - Turkey Cake
Heavenly Pumpkin Spice Cake -- Yummy with BC and Ganache (mix) icing. This design came from 1nanette. She used a 10" round and a doll pan. Cut of and make one side of the doll pan flat, saving the cut of section for the back side of the tail. Then cutting off part of the round to make a flat section to stand it up on end. Put dowels through that 10" to help it stand up and not fall over, and then into the back of the 10 securing it to the doll pan. The head is rice crispy treats covered in Fondant.

Wilton's Winter Wonderland Plus Stars
This was a Oreo Cookies and Cream cake with raspberry filling. It was the Wilton wedding cake design Winter Wonderland only one tier. The lady only said she liked pink, it's for a birthday but make it Christmasy and she liked roses and stars. So, this was my outcome, though I do not like how the stars look. I think they take away from the cake however she loved it. Enjoy!

Fall Pumpkins And Apples
Here's my try at the bundt pan pumpkin, or in this case pumpkins. I did one large and two mini bundt pans. I tried CC's Heavenly Pumpkin Spice Cake and it is Heavenly... A+ I made the apple cupcakes with my leftover batter. It's for a church dinner tomorrow and it's not my best work but it does look much better in person. I had hoped to cover with MMF but I had loaned my colors to my MIL and she went OOT and I had to make due and this was not the look I was going for. They'll eat it thought!! Enjoy!

My Collette Cake For Mil Birthday
Here's my Collette Cake for my MIL birthday, special thanks to NashvilleCakes for the inspiration on the colors and directions. They are two WAS, 8" & 6" torted with raspberry BC filling, carved to be rounded and covered in Satin Ice fondant. (Though I had a lot of trouble with it being dry.) I actually added the purple and teal in colored fondant and trimmed with a snail trail of RI. The color panels are a mix of pearl and gold luster dust. The ribbon roses have all been pearl dusted too. Enjoy!!

Haunted Castle Cake
Using the CakeBoss instructions we did this practice cake for our son's upcoming Dad & Lad Cake Bake. This one we Halloween Themed. Instead of covering in fondant we cut sections and did the sides and top individually. We only had one wall droop over. The cobwebs are cotton candy that quickly evaporate/melt and need replacing... this was the second coating of them. I got the idea from the Food Network Spooky cake challenge. The ghost is a chocolate candy mold. The kids wanted the spooky tree too.

Michael's Castle Dragon
It's not on the cake yet... we're still figuring that out. He's doing a castle, well, he and dad are doing a castle with this dragon (hopefully) for an upcoming Cub Scout Dad & Lad Cake Bake. We're doing a practice this weekend mom and son on a haunted castle (hopefully) to practice so it won't be so hard on Dad who doesn't bake, doesn't cook, etc... he can read a recipe but I'm hoping it comes out OK. Wish us luck!!!

Scouts Spider Cupcake Cake
This is a WAS Cupcake Cake with a Spidery Web theme for a scout Halloween party. Inspired by many wonderful Halloween cakes here on CC. Thanks for all the ideas as always. They were a hit... the kids fought over who got the purple spiders on top (which were cupcakes with pipe cleaner legs.). The spiders eyes are sugar casts that I got from a local bakery shop. Enjoy,.. and Happy Halloween!!!

Autumn Grapes
Here's an 8" round I did for a second cake for 'Fall' theme for a cake contest. Though I can't decide to enter it or not. It didn't turn out at all like I'd hoped,.. particularly the top The sides were inspired by a Scott Clark Wooley design. It's a Mocha cake with mocha icing which is the 'ivory' coffee color of the icing then just the white and green. It just makes me feel like something was missing. It's pretty, but just not what I was hoping for. Maybe it will inspire someone else... enjoy!!

Fall - Thanksgiving Cake
Here's a cake that would be great for Thanksgiving! I actually made it for my MIL's birthday and a cake contest. Let me know what you think. It's modeled after a Fitz and Floyd Hawthorne Dinnerware pattern. it's a White Chocolate Amaretto cake with Amaretto flavored BC. The decorations are fondant leaves and acorns, all else BC. The leaves were fall colored and then accented with bronze and gold luster dust. I didn't do the acorns... maybe I should. Thanks for looking.

Minnie Mouse
Here's our daughter's 2nd Birthday Cake. It's following the Wilton Mickey Mouse pattern from the 06 Yearbook I tried to modify it for being Minnie Mouse instead. It turned out OK as I had trouble half way into it with my MMF. It took fine on the bottom (yellow) layer and the first layer on the (red) doll pan with the white dots. After that it became 'over worked' as I call it and was to easily torn. I guess by then I'd worked in to much color and crisco. Overall everyone loved it. Thanks for looking.

Sweet 16 Cake
This was for my babysitters Sweet 16 party. I tried to match the napkin as close as possible. It's just a simple yellow/choc marble sheet cake with the small tier to hold up the RI tiara my first! (and it came out nearly perfect... ) I had trouble with my gumpaste curly ques they kept sagging and never got hard, though we've been fighting some 100+ temps here so our humidity has been up there. Overall they loved it! Thanks for looking.

Twelve Dancing Princesses
Here's my Niece's Birthday Cake. She wanted Barbie in the 12 Dancing princesses so I took my daughter's actual doll (on the right) and used it as inspiration for the cake. Doll pan in yellow cake with BC icing. Her clothes are fondant and gold luster dust accents. her skirt is made to sparkle by using clear gold disco dust. My niece was more interested in eating her clothes than the cake! Enjoy!
