Granddaughter's 13th birthday - hates girly stuff and pink in particular. My first carved cake. Inspired by Tonedna's famous Topsy Turvy Cake. Numbers and banner are gumpaste, all other decorations are fondant. 11" tapered to 9". DH took baggie of fondant balls and picked out the perfect ribbon, no? TFL.
This birthday Spider Cake was for a friend who loves Halloween. Both the white and black webs are made with SugarVeil. Iced in BC. Spider is fondant/gumpaste painted with petal and disco dust. Blatantly stole ideas from other photos on this site! TFL!
For my firstborn's 40th Birthday. 12" + 8". Flames of gumpaste painted with petal & luster dust. Harley emblem is gumpaste letters & trim on gumpaste background. Numbers and "metal" studs of gumpaste. Holes in top of numbers for candles. Black fondant supposed to look like leather. Borrowed & modified flame sketch from another CC-er, Erin31.
Made this cake several years ago for my DIL's bridal shower. Scratch fondant with royal icing roses.
Made this cake for my son's wedding several years ago. Cake was scratch white almond with apricot filling, buttercream under scratch fondant. Roses of royal icing.
DIL said to design Lily's cake around the Disney princess toppers. Cake is WASC, white chocolate ganache, MFF fondant. First time for decorations of fondant, ganache, and covering display board in fondant. Transported 2 hours by car with no damage whatsoever! Thanks to all for their helpful suggestions.
