This cake was done for a customer's son, who loves when the family sits by the fireplace and reads books. He loves to read, and he wanted his whole family on. I used a 10" square cake with edges cut off for bottom book, and an 8" square cake, with edges cut for top book. Figures are fondant, and the fire place and couch are bits of cake, covered in fondant.
Idea from the Wilton cake book, with some of my personal touches. 9x13 cake, whale is the petite doll mold, tail is plastic dowel rod, iced and decorated in buttercream icing.

I am doing some items for a display at a hair salon for Valentine's day and this is one idea I made. A 6" heart cake (single layer), covered in fondant (which needs working on), the little bee, "duff" roses, drop flowers, and ball border are all fondant, with some buttercream accents.
