Zebra Cake
I did a trial run on this cake earlier, and this was the real cake for a gourmet dinner for 8 with an African theme- the dinner was auctioned off at a non profit black tie gala for over $7,000. It was quite time consuming (2 1/2 hours on the stripes alone!- they were cut individually from MMF). It was worth it, the guests really loved it - it was the hit of the party!

Snow White
My Niece decided she wanted a Snow White cake for her 3rd birthday. I am going to be flying up to her in MA to help celebrate. This is the first gumpaste figure for her cake- I used the tutorial from Aine2 for the head- Great tutorial!!! Anyway, she isn't exactly Disney looking but my interpretation since I'm learing to work with gumpaste. A bit shorter and plumper than the Disney version huh? LOL !

Fourth Of July Doll Cake
This was my first attempt at a doll cake, and she didn't turn out like I had hoped. I covered her in fondant last night and that was fine, but today when I went to do the details we had 90% humidity but not warm enough to turn on the A/C. So the MMF was really sticky and hard to work with. She is chocolate hazelnut cake with chocolate hazelnut icing and white chocolate MMF. I hope she tastes better than she looks! Thanks for looking!

Rose Teapot
I struggled with this cake from the begining, it was just one of those days. THe chocolate cake was crumbly (new recipe), the buttercream tasted like a stick of butter (also a new recipe-I added a bunch of powdered sugar) and then the MMF came out really dry and crumbly. I was glad it came out looking ok in the end and didn't end just end up in a big heap! LOL! It was chocolate with buttercream, MMF and gumpaste rose. Roses on side are painted with food color and gold trim is luster dust.

Stargazer Lily And Freesia Plant
I wanted to do something different this Easter, and this is what I came up with. It is chocolate cake (baked in a parchement lined terra cotta pot) with chocolate frosting, orange flavored fondant (to make the terra cotta pot) gumpaste lily flowers, gumpaste freesia, leaves and butterfly, oreo cookie crumbles for "dirt". I've been teaching myself to make gumpaste flowers, what do you think?

Go Red For Women
This was the first cake that was really frustrating to me. I tried a FBCT but it made a big mess so then I tried to do the red dress by painting it-another mess! I finally piped the red dress. I made this as a thank you for the volunteers that helped me with our Go Red For Women Luncheon (I work for the American Heart Association). It's chocolate cake, buttercream frosting, MMF, gumpaste flowers and real chocolates. These are my first gumpaste flowers, I've been teaching myself how to make them.

Pigpen Cake
My husband insisted he wanted a boring old cola cake for his birthday. I really wanted to decorate something challenging and exciting, so I thought about it and how it looked undecorated.... like a pigpen! So I made some fondant piggies, haystacks, corn, carrots and a trough and got to decorate a little at least!

Halloween Spooktacular
This was my first cake with columns, my first attempt at making fondant figures, and my first Halloween cake. Bottom layer is carrot cake with cream cheese frosting and purple fondant, top layer is cinnamon cake with cream cheese frosting and orange fondant. Witch, cauldron, toadstools, dead tree, black cat, broom, spoon, black spider, ghosts, pumkins are all hand sculpted in MMF.

Anniversary Cake
I just did this cake as a gift to my husband for our 2nd anniversary. The top tier is white chocolate with white chocolate buttercream. The bottom layer is lemon with raspberry preserves filling and buttercream frosting. It's covered in fondant with fondant pearls, royal icing coral (from pattern on CC) and white/milk chocolate shells (first time making them). Was inspired by several shell/ocean cakes on CC.

My First Fondant Roses
I'm teaching myself to make flowers, I used the wilton directions from my Course 3 book to make these (My instructor didn't teach us do them but I wanted to know). I mixed a small amount of gumpaste (also pink) into the fondant I tinted as you all suggest on this site. I like how that dries better than fondant alone (Thanks everyone for the tips in the forums!!!) What do you think?

Gumpaste Shoe With Shoebox Cake
I got the directions from socakes for the shoe, a clearer picture is in my pictures. The shoebox cake is a lemon cake with buttercream and MMF. This was my first time making MMF- wow, so much better than the box stuff! The cake was for my supervisor/friend's birthday. It was a surprise- she loved it!
