What A Fun Cake To Make!
This was a BLAST to make and probably one of the EASIEST cakes I have ever made. Thanks to a fellow CCer who provided the instructions; that was a great springboard for me to do my own thing from. The "meatballs" are chocolate cake balls and the "sauce" is heated (then cooled) strawberry jam. The "garlic bread" (another CCer's idea) is cream cake from a local deli (ran short on time) with yellow BC and mint leaves for the "chives." If you have wanted to make one of this and haven't yet, I say GO FOR IT. It really was fun, and the group it was for got such a kick out of it. I wish all my cakes were this much fun. LOL! :-)

Older Than Dirt!
The man this was for is ALWAYS cracking jokes and giving someone a hard time so his wife ordered humor cakes for him (this is one of two that I made for him). The mounds of "dirt" are cake scraps mixed with a little BC, shaped into mounds and then sprinkled with fresh cake crumbs. This was fun to make, and the birthday "boy" (he turned 50) got a kick out of it.

My First Wedding Cake!
Wow! I actually pulled it off. I'm still in shock and this was several weeks ago. LOL! I'm SOOOO thankful that the bride's mother didn't want anything elaborate. The way you see it is exactly how she ordered it. That was a REAL relief for this newbie! LOL! It went really well; had a few hitches, but that is a good thing for learning. One hitch I didn't count on was hubby slamming on brakes and smashing the side of the bottom tier. SIGH! What can I expect for a free delivery driver? :-) The cake is WASC with Sharon's (sugarshack) BC recipe. Great tasting and easy to work with. TFL.

Chocolate And Fruit
My first groom's cake order. Of course, the inspiration came from CC. I cannot tell you how many people told me (and how many times I overheard it said) that they thought it was not real! I'm not sure if that is a compliment or not! LOL It was fun to make. I think one thing I did wrong was not getting the cake cold before putting on the ganache because it really made the BC soft, and the fruit had a hard time staying put. Lesson learned.

Blue Graduation
One of two grad cakes I had this week. It was tough getting this hue of blue! The cap and scroll are both FBCT. Everyone oooh'd and aaah'd over it, but as I told a friend, all they have to compare me to is Wal-Mart. None of them know the real talent I have seen here on Cake Central or else my cover would be blown. I think I will keep it "my secret." LOL! TFL

Cowboy Cake
This was my son's 16th birthday cake. I was happy with this cake until I did the writing; it immediately received an F grade in my opinion. LOL! I just cannot seem to get the writing down! GRRR!! :-) The cowboy/fence/sunset were all one FBCT. Even though everyone said they really liked it (especially my son), I never can seem to be satisfied. Ya know? LOL! TFL

Construction Crew
This was a fun cake to make. The digger is a FBCT. The dirt is brown sugar. The rest is buttercream. The family has told me over and over how they loved this cake in both taste and design, so mission accomplished. And, yes, I know the digger is in mid air instead of on the ground. I realized it after I had already put it down on the cake. :-(

4Th Of July 1St Birthday
Even though I really dislike the writing on this, it was fun to make. The family wanted red, white and blue since it was a 4th of July birthday (celebrated a day late), but I used as little color as possible to prevent teeth coloring issues. You can barely see it in the photo, but there is red and blue edible glitter on top as well. The standing stars are white chocolate sprinkled with edible glitter.

Hot Pink And Black
I have to be honest: I think this cake turned out hideous, but the mother and birthday girl were happy with it. I HATE humidity! Even though I used a very stable frosting recipe, I still had lots of issues with this cake. I was so glad to be done with it even though it isn't very detailed. Guess we all have those days. :-)

Sampler Cake?
This was made for a church dinner, thus the reason for the different toppings. WASC converted to chocolate with Hershey chocolate syrup frosting and "regular" chocolate BC for the very top for contrast (almonds, walnuts, Kit-Kat, and Twix toppings). Pre-scored to help the serving ladies. TFL.

Usa Flag - In Fruit
This is a WASC with Marshmallow Creme Frosting (very yummy). IT was made for a man in our church who recently returned from Iraq. However, by the time I got to church, the juice from the berries had broken the frosting down completely and the borders fell off. So....I took it back home and redecorated it (next photo).

Cherry Blossoms
This cake was made to match the invitation. I wish I would have remembered to take a picture of the invitation; it was rather simple, with just a branch and the pink blossoms. The cake is "textured" except in the message window. The branches are made of Tootsie Rolls and the flowers of Starbursts. The cake is WASC with Strawberry Mousse filling. The icing is whipped icing (the first time I have ever used it - I think I'm spoiled to crusting buttercream, as I had difficulty with getting this smooth).

Sewing Fun
This was actually a birthday for a 7-year-old. No, the girl doesn't sew but the mom said she couldn't find anything really "girly" so she chose this. LOL! She wanted it done similar to the invitation (included in photo). It is hard to see in the picture, but there are little sewing lines here and there. The bottom almost looks blank unless you look closer. It didn't look like this in person. :-)
