The guest of honor sitting on his couch with his cat sound asleep. Basically how we all know he will pass the time now that his is retired. The newspaper announces his retirement and move. Couch is covered in fondant and figure, cat, newspaper is gumpaste.
This was a 30th birthday party cake for my soon to be husband.. Cake is covered in silver fondant to look like a steel bucket. Ice and bottles are all sugar that are life sized. Labels are edible too. A HUGE hit!!! No one in the place believed it was real. I gave out every business card I had. People from across the restaurant kept coming up to our table to admire it.
Everything is edible except for the sewer lid which is a souvenir of the event- a college graduation. Sewer was round cakes, head was a sports ball pan, hands were easter egg cupcakes I carved. Fun to do, pretty easy, and a big hit! Thanks to several members for their versions
Huge amount of chocolate cake with choc frosting all covered in fondant. Head is a male wig head also covered in fondant so it also serves as a souvenir of the party. Thanks to several CCers for the inspiration.
Vanilla cake with praline crunch filling. Decorations are fondant, gumpaste, and royal icing.
Covered in melting buttercream!!! Ribbon is fondant with RI writing. Roses are gumpaste. "Bubblegum buddy" is made to look like little girl in her Communion dress.

My dad needed a cake and he had been teasing me about how my cakes never look like plain old "bakery" cakes. This is as close as I could get. It was so boring to make after seeing what is possible on CC.
Got a new impression mat and wanted to try it out. Handpainted silver on all of the raised impressions. Looks much nicer in person. Chocolate w/ chocolate covered in fondant.
My boyfirend told me he wanted a plain cake. This is what he got... I wanted to try a topsy turvy cake. All chocolate.
Made a quick thank you cake for someone who cat sitted while I was away. The cat hated him and was a real pain in the neck.. This was done as a joke and looks just like the cat.

Cake is only my second carved cake. This cake is choc with raspberry filling. Icing is buttercream and the details are in fondant. This cake is huge!!! It feeds 75!
Done to celebrate a new car purchase. Cake matches the new car a Ford Edge. Cake is devils food with white icing covered in fondant. All the details are done in fondant with luster dusts. There is a very small base cake under the car also covered in fondant so wheels touch the ground to make it look like it is "driving".
Basket is 3 layers of french vanilla cake with choc mousse filing. The basket is milk choc frosting pressed with impression mats. Handle is gumpaste. The flowers/ decorations are all royal icing.

Done to match the little girl's 1st birthday theme. The bears on the base exactly match the plates, napkins, etc. The two base cakes are yellow with choc mousse covered in buttercream. The top bear is devil's food with choc frosting. All the details on the top bear, letters, bear borders, etc are fondant or gumpaste.

Cake is 6, 8, 10, 12 inch pans. Cake is yellow cake with chocolate mousse filling. Icing is buttercream with silver dragees and painted with luster dust.. All the flowers are royal icing and bow is gumpaste.
This is my final cake from the Wilton Fondant/ Gumpaste Class. The fondant is dyed aqua and I added on some additional daisies.
