These are the decorations I did for a wedding cake. This is a dummy cake and the caterer will add them to their cake. There are leaves, acorns, branches, pumpkins, gourds, pinecones and a branch monogram. Worked on these for about three weekends and really like how the coloring turned out. Can't wait to see how they look on the cake.
Bottom tier is styrofoam covered with fondant; other tiers are rich chocolate with IMBC. Ribbon is Duff's chocolate fondant. Made topper using KHalstead's instructions.
Top two books and the paint can are cake. The paint stick was attached to a motor to 'stir' the paint. RKT and modeling chocolate fabric bolt. Book titles personalized for graduate on edible image. Middle tier throw pillow was damaged in transit but was still edible.

This cake was a family effort. I shaped and iced the cakes, my 6 yo niece added the wood lines (see the chocolate cake showing thru), hubby and adult niece make the monkeys and 4 yo niece made the party hats. Monkeys are made from modeling chocolate. What an adventure but the birthday girl exclaimed "I love it".

Three tiers on my new topsy turvy frame. All covered in fondant with chocolate clay accents. College photo id is an edible image with the graduate's picure. The frame takes a lot of planning to make sure everything fits. I assembled the top layer on site and realized that I forgot to wrap something around the pipe underneath so it shows. I felt like I was on a cake challenge since I had to bake and decorate everything on Saturday and deliver on Sunday noon. Needless to say, I was up late Saturday night but the graduate loved it and didn't want to cut it. The globe represents her earth science major; sneakers because she loves to run.

Rich chocolate cake with bavarian creme filling. Fondarific buttercream fondant decorations and gum paste wheel. Edible image game spaces with special life events and play money with the recipients picture. The bottom board had the same money along with the betting line printed on paper under clear contact paper. Sides are chocolate clay with woodgrain impression. TFL.

Heavenly white cake covered with Italian meringue buttercream and gum paste decorations. Each cake represents a major phase of John's life - his military career, life in Michigan and life and wedding at his current home in NJ. The decorations on the sides represent important parts of his life - Schools, business association he started, church, and neighborhood functions. It was a big hit.
This cake is 3ft tall and almost didn't fit in the car. Internal pvc and wood construction. Legs and arms covered with modeling chocolate. Hands and head are rice krispie treats. Martians and details on body are MMF. Base is modeling chocolate. TFL

This cake made me a nervous wreck. I never made elevated levels and finding the right components and assembling was a challenge. The roses are gum paste and took much longer than I expected so I was glad I started early. But I was happy with the results. TFL.
