Yes it is poured fondant. I think I had a bit of luck with the fondant. First I brushed the cakes with hot abricot jam to seal the cakes. I have used a ready made fondant icing that I bought from the UK. I put some icing in a heat proff bowl and pour boiling water over so it cover and let it sit for 10-15 min. Dont stir init. Remove the water and gently heat it in the micro at medium level for approx. 1 min. (in my micro that is;)) It is importan that the icing dont boil at all time.
Now it should be bubbly and you can stir it to get it smooth. I use some of the water there was let on the kettle to thin it down a little at a time until you get it right. Not to thin. Coat it twice, when the first dip has set. I followed the directions from the Pretty Party book by Peggy Porchen. Hope that gave a hint??
8O Stunning! I get a lot of complements on my cakes, and I tell people to check out people on this site, because there are people just as good if not better. You are a perfect example of that remark!
Thank you all I really appriciate it. The fondant dont have a specific name only that you can also use it as a filling for chocolates. I have used a basic vanilla recipes from the 125 cupcake book and it was pure luck the rise this way. Normally they dont do it that much. I dip the cupcakes so the fondant is covering the paper edge mostly so the paper wont loosen from the cupcake and also the poured fondant is medium thickness and not so thin.
Absolutely STUNNING! The colors are so soft & pretty, and the flowers are just perfect! I'm sure the guests at the event will be talking about your work for a long long time! Great job! Thanks for sharing. It's inspiring!
