I made up these two cupcake bouquets this past weekend for a bridal shower. One bouquet is chocolate and the other is yellow. For the cupcakes I actually used a doctored cake mix.

I used Betty Crocker add an extra egg, butter instead of oil, milk instead of water and a tsp of vanilla. The buttercream is an American Buttercream. And a 2D tip to create the hydrangea look.

I used a 6in styrofoam ball which I pushed into the pot. I also added some packing tape where the ball and pot meet.

I covered the ball with a square piece of green tissue paper which is held down at the base of the ball with a rubber band. If you're worried about the band sliding up, you can add some tooth picks slightly above the band. I then took some darker green tissue paper squares and tucked them into the band all around the bottom.

To place the cupcakes on the ball, start at the bottom. I use an extra cupcake liner to figure out placement before I start adding them onto the ball. For the bottom row I add three toothpicks to the ball. Two on the bottom and one slightly above. You watch hem to be slightly angled so the cupcakes don't slide off. I then take a fourth toothpick and insert it through the top of the cupcake liner and into the ball for extra support. The rest of the cupcakes can be added with 2 toothpicks. And lastly cut some tissue squares and add to fill in the holes. If you have any large holes (like I did) add a toothpick in the middle of the hole so that you can wedge a few pieces around it.

To transport, I took a 10x10 cake box. I cut a 6" cirlce out of the top of the lid. I also trimmed the bottom of the lid about an inch so that when I inserted the pot it wouldn't be lifted. I put the lid inside the bottom box. You may need to adjust how much you cut depending on the size of your pot.

And lastly I placed a piece of grippy shelf liner from the dollar store underneath each and placed them on the floor of my car.
