Dominican Cake And Frosting

I learned to make this "Dominican" cake with pineapple filling and merengue frosting in my first class. It was very tasty. The cake requires a lb. of each main ingredient and the whites are whipped and folded into the batter. The frosting is whipped egg whites with a sugar syrup poured into it. Requires lots of work but many people like the taste better than buttercream.
