This was a little cake my friend and I put together with left over scraps just for fun. The giant squid is of course the feature, along with the boat wreckage. It's a buttercream frosting with a couple different colors of blue swirled about. The squid, shells, and fish are all fondant. The sand is a mixture of brown sugar and graham cracker crumbs. We dyed white cake batter several different colors using gel icing colors, then plopped the batter in the pan randomly for a rainbow-like effect.
