Indian Bridal Shower Cake - Alt View

Indian Bridal Shower Cake - Alt View on Cake Central

i've had requests for a front view of the indian bridal shower cake. the matron of honor asked for a certain design with deep orange fondant and deep red, gold and white decorations. the bottom cake is lemon cake with buttercream filling. the top is devils food cake with whip and cherry filling.

Critique group member: I still think this cake is very pretty but now I will critique it. The borders are a bit inconsistent, so work on applying even pressure, also the squiggly swags are not uniform theone in front has very few sqiggles where as the next one over has lots. I also think the cake would have been just fine without the white dots they seem out of place in this very rich color scheme.

critique subgroup member: WOW...I really like these colors together! The design is unique and fun. Your borders look a little inconsistent. It's so hard to apply the same pressure consistently! For those white dots, you can let them set a bit and then tap them down lightly with a finger dipped in powdered sugar (this is a tip someone in this group gave me!) It takes off that point and makes them look more pearl like. I would also like to see a different covering for your board...maybe yellow or gold.

critique subgroup member: I love the colors, too, and the embroidery look. I can see that the top tier is not level and the second tier has a bit of a hump; you'll need to get things level before putting on the fondant. Great job overall.

Critique group member: I really like the colors, they look great together. I see some inconsistancies in the borders, and you need to work on getting your points down on your dots (something I need to work on as well :) ) I think perhaps you could try and find a cake board cover to match or compliment the cake. Overall I think it's a really nice cake.

Critique subgroup member: it looks very intricate and you did a great job making such bright colors work well together. I agree with the others on some inconsistency issues but otherwise very beautiful job

Critique group member: I think what makes this cake so attractive is how original it is. Your colors are bursting with liveliness and are perfect traditional indian tones. So are the designs. You did just enough to make it festive but not so much that it turned out 'busy'. Besides the few things mentioned about the peaks on your dots and some uneveness in the bordering, it's a fabulous cake. Great work

Critique subgroup member. Nice interpretation of an Indian design. This cake doesn't fit my taste because of the color. It just doesn't look appetizing to me, but heck I told Sylly the same thing with her grey cake  Anyway use a little Powered Sugar on your finger and push down those dot peaks, pull your tube away from the cake so you don't get flat lines, they should be rounded and work on your dragging pears border, too fast and inconsistent, also measure your lines. Overall you design is nice...

critique group member. i really like the colors on this cake and the design is unique. I am not sure how I feel about the flowers etc. on the sides I personally think less is more would apply here. The borders are a bit uneven and it look like maybe the bc got a bit too hot. Try chilling the piping bag for a bit if you have hot hands etc.
