Hey guys. I used to use butter for baking a simple sponge cake but it’s pricey so I’ve switched to margarine. However has anyone found that stork or Tesco soft spread for cakes, both have a coconut taste when the cake is baked? I can’t find any information online but I find the coconut taste is very strong

I am not familiar with either of these brands and it has been so many years since I used margarine, I can't even remember the brand names.  One, I know, was Blue Bonnet, but I don't recall being able to tell much difference in taste and certainly not coconut.  It maybe that the brands to which you are referring uses coconut oil in the manufacturing.
