Hello. I want to make a sugar free apple pie for a cheistmas gift. I have Stevia in the raw the one that measures cup for cup. I have never made a sugar free or reduced sugar pie. My regular recipe calls for 3/4 cup sugar. Do i just substitute 3/4 cup of Stevia? or do 1/2 sugar and 1/2 Stevia? Im concerned that all Stevia may be too sweet?

Has anyone used this Stevia in the raw or has a tried recipe i can use for this?

Thanks

I have never used it in a pie, only in a cake, and I substituted about 3/4 of the sugar with Stevia.  Honestly, my husband and I could not tell the difference than the sugar only version.

naty -- I did not care for stevia in the raw and I use pure leaf stevia exclusively -- but what sandra said agrees with my observation -- if you use stevia and sub in some sugar -- it hides the stevia well -- if you use all stevia you can really tell -- the stevia in the raw is a one for one exchange -- I actually tossed mine recently, my bag of stevia in the raw -- i'd had it forever and I just was never gonna use it again -- it has dextrose or maltodextin in it -- just not an ingredient I loved -- at all --

i'll make pie and leave out almost all of the sweeteneter -- maybe just a tad of maple syrup then my husband sprinkles a little sugar on his serving and I put some pure leaf stevia on mine and we are good to go --

i'll tell yah what else I do -- add a 10-12 oz bag of frozen cherries or mango to the apples -- it really boosts the sweetness and I actually did this at thanksgiving and put out sugar packets for anyone who wanted the extra sweetness -- my husband goes nuts for this esp the mango one and he does not even add any sugar to this -- the mango and cherries have no sugar added in the bag -- the cherries are frozen sweet cherries -- just a thought for you -- I get them at sprouts if you have one of those but i'm sure any kind would do --

also you could take dried cherries -- cover with water, simmer for ten to fifteen minutes till soft -- sieve off the water and use those too with the apples --

just some sugar free pie thoughts for you

+1

I can no longer eat sugar -- we just went to the cheesecake factory today -- first time for me -- we split a slice of the ghiradelli cherry cheesecake and I got a little icky after I ate my half -- no es Bueno -- and that's a good thing -- it helps me to keep on avoiding it -- but we had been gonna go there forever and somehow it happened today -- Had to get a slice of something -- shoulda quit after 3-4 bites -- or skipped it altogether --

but anyway -- apple pie is great with the extra  fruit -- I put a little lemon juice in there too
