How Far In Advance Can I Make Chocolate Covered Oreos?

I am making chocolate covered oreos for the first time. I am using Merckens chocolate wafers. I have a few questions:
1) How far in advance can I make them?
2) i want to add luster dust to them - should i do that as soon as I can or only when I am about to package them?
3) If i can apply the luster dust prior to packaging, how can I store them?
TIA!

Well, neither Oreos or chocolate are quickly perishable, so I guess you could make them whenever you chose. Generally, flowers that are dusted with luster dust are steamed to set the dust, but steaming might just make the luster dust disappear into the chocolate. Maybe make one in advance and try dusting and steaming.

I have made these many times (w/o dust). As Sandra said, they can be made several months in advance if stored in a cool, dry place - but mostly I think just 2-4 weeks is best. Since I've never dusted them can't say how that will work. You are just going to have to test this out yourself. Let us know how it goes:) ?

every time I read the subject of your post I get a craving -- stop it!
