Hi,

I use a cake mix and modify it by adding flour, sugar, etc.  BC discontinued the Golden Vanilla.  They have a regular vanilla and a French vanilla.  Does anyone know what the difference if the flavors of these 2 mixes is?  I may want to add some raspberry liquor as the "extract" but I don't know how it would either enhance or ruin the Fr. Van flavor.

Thanks,

Katie

I generally use French Vanilla because, to me, it seems to have a richer flavor and because it uses whole eggs.  The flavor is still mild enough to blend well with other flavorings.  I have not used raspberry liquor, but I've used raspberry filling and it works just fine.  To enhance the French Vanilla flavor, I've used additional vanilla extract, almond extract and lemon extract.  I would not hesitate to use any flavoring, since most cakes use vanilla in conjunction with whatever other flavoring is specified.
