I am looking to make a cake similar to the photo below.  I am currently trying to figure out how to get raised areas on the bone. Do think it all achieved by craving? Or do you think it four circle cakes attached to rectangle with circular cake being higher than then rectangle.

Both. I think the round cakes are higher than the rectangle the edges are carved to be more rounded out.

Looks to me like four 4" or 5" tiers (ea a 2 layer cake) are used w/a small sq, cut in 1/2 and stacked for the center.

Thank you for the suggestions. I will try making the cake with 4" rounds and square cake cut in half.   I will also try craving the tops.

@Njewett Your welcome  , @SandraSmiley thank you.  I always sketch out my cakes before I do them, it saves a lot of wasted cake.

Again thank you for all your help and suggestions. The cake did not turn out the way I wanted it too. I had issues with baking which impacted the timeline.  I had to skip craving the cakes. Luckily the cake was for a cousin's son Birthday and he loved it.How To Get This Bone Shaped Cake?my
