I'm making a hexagon tier THIS WEEKEND! I got The Wilton hexagon pans and noticed their edges are a bit rounded . I'm afraid I'm going to have to load up the edges with buttercream to get sharp edges. I'm wondering if anyone knows if it actually just easier to go ahead and avoid the pans and carve from a round cake.

thanks so much!

i would prefer the hex pan and i love to carve but that one is so geometrical -- i am not geometrical -- i'm officially shabby chic -- sometimes more of one than the other ha!

but yeah if you have the pan, use it is my recommendation --

best hex to you -- that didn't come out right hahahahaha -- no no no no no -- best hexagon cakes to you blue_heart

I agree with -K8memphis, use the hex pans and if you want the edges to be sharper, slightly trim the already hex layers to create a sharp edge.  It will be a lot easier than trying to trim a round tier into a hexagon shape!

I love my hex set and that's what I do when I want crisp edges. less to trim off and  your sides are even.
