Sending my daughter cake ingredients and toppings so she an make her own birthday cake. I either need super shelf stable recipe or recommendations on prepare tub that taste decent. Was going to send recipes I use but most use a stand mixer to beat eggs and all she has is a hand mixer and I don't know how reliable it is. Since I starting making my own frosting the grocery store brands like Duncan Hines and Betty Crocker don't taste good to me or her. Has anyone tried Wilton premade buttercream tub or mix? Any ideas are helpful. I might or might not have time to grab anything from local cake store. So brands sold at Walmart, Michaels, or Joanns would work best.

When I first started baking, I used the Wilton vanilla icing, and I just added another flavoring to it. It actually didn't taste too bad lol I can tolerate that more than a DH or Betty icing.

Ypierce thank you for the response. I personally never tried Wilson's but know I can buy it locally. Already going to be late as her birthday is in 6 day and the package needs to go across country.

I tried Wilton Decorator icing in a pinch and it was not good in comparison to home made. The texture was good for decorating, but flavor was, in my opinion, a little odd.

Oh, and that was way, way long ago, when I first began. That would be '91. Haven't used it since.
