I have a bride who is wanting a tree stump wedding cake, I do not do fondant. Can anyone direct me on how to get a stump look that will not be to complicated to do? Any tutorials, or step by steps would be so helpful. Thank you so much!!!! You can also email Teresa.burns43@yahoo.com.

one fast way ( fast for me ( gotta run ) is to use chocolate icing underneath white and swipe away the white strategically

ok so are you doing a big brown stump or a white birch one ^^^ that idea is for the white birch one -- a brown stump cake is fun and easy just pipe big blobs of chocolate icing up the sides and take a fork to them to make them look 'barky' -- spiral the icing around & around the top -- pat it down with a clean cloth or paper towel
i don't know of any videos but there seems to be a video for everything so --
best to you

This one is an impression mat on fondant....but its through.....
I can not find it but I saw a tutorial where they put the BC thick on the cake (rough smooth) put in the freezer for 20 mins to firm up.....corn starch the impression mat and hit out the excess ...then press into the sides......then they airbrushed the impression to look like bark......I did a grooms cake recently using my impression mat but it was fondant....I do not have an [postimage id="4867" thumb="900"]
brush so I painted it using food colours

Thank you for the direction, I do not have an impression mat, I did see one however where you take melted chocolate layer between two sheets of wax paper, let harden and than roll it up with a rolling pin and it breaks into bark like pieces. I really should learn fondant!

Thank you for the tip, I may end up using this idea, although I know the bride wanted one that looked more like one you can really only do with fondant. I will just practice the next week or so the wedding is in Sept, I do have a little time to search!!!
