In my area, almost every wedding reception and party venue (country clubs, hotels, catering facilities, etc...) have a list of preferred bakeries/residential cake decorators that clients must use for any event at that location. I'm curious. How does one go about getting on these preferred vendor lists? Those of you with this status, can you talk about your experiences?

Networking with other vendors so that they get to know you is the best way to get on those lists. If there's a wedding business association in your area join it, if there are networking groups go to them. Call venues to introduce yourself if you're delivering a cake there.
