Ok. I'm not a coffee drinker so I'm really lost in the coffee aisle. Anyway, I want to try a couple of recipes that call for Espresso Powder. I've read on the forum that you can find it in the coffee aisle. I've tried several different stores in my area (Chicago suburbs) and I can't find it. I'm having a hard time believing that in my area it's not in the stores. Does this go by any other name? Or can you help with a some sort of substitute?
Thanks! Mary

I also could not find instant espresso powder at my regular grocery stores. I had to make a trip downtown to a Whole Foods for this:

I found a few brands at my local Walmart, but it depends where you live I guess. You just have to look for anything that says instant espresso. I like to add some to my chocolate frosting to make it mocha. I bought a Hispanic brand called Pilon.
For my Tiramisu recipe I brew real espresso.

I use the same brand as metria and actually get it on Amazon too. I chose this brand after referrals from many top chefs.
I forgot to mention that the granules are these perfect minute little balls that not only dissolve nicely, but are so good that I actually use the powder right in vanilla IMBC and sprinkled on some desserts. I am also not a coffee drinker, but these little granules are great.
