Help To Hire A Professional Cake Decorator
Business By jillscakes Updated 17 May 2012 , 11:53pm by jillscakes

We are in need of a professional cake decorator and not having much luck with the ad responses. Does anybody have any suggestions on how to find someone with this type of experience? We are so busy and have no time to train. Please Help.

Where are you located? Are you a bakery, grocery store, private home, dorm room? What kind and how many cakes/cupcakes/cookies do you make/sell daily/weekly/monthly?
What about a college or culinary school near you? Not all of those students are beginners. Facebook? Word of mouth? Everybody knows someone who knows someone who does cakes. Here's a thought - - have you tried calling other bakeries to see if they know of an experienced decorator who might be available?

Sorry! We are a small cake shop located in Santa Clarita, Ca. We usually put out 20+ specialty cakes a week and 5+ wedding cakes a week.We need someone that is skilled with character piping in buttercream, 3-d cake sculpting, fondant characters, etc. This is to replace someone that has been with our company for 18 years. We have tried facebook, no luck. I just posted an ad with a local art school so hopefully that will help but any other input would be greatly appreciated or if anyone knows of someone in the area??

There are several baking/pastry schools in the LA area. They might have an advanced student about to graduate who can do the things you need.
