I have bakes two cakes in bundt pans and stacked tops together to make a pumpkin or jack o' lantern.
I made a huge spider cake that was very easy. I used a 10" pan, 9", and 8" and then 2 small stainless steel bowl. I then stacked all but one of the "small bowl" layers and used an elelctric knife to carve them into a perfect half-sphere. (This was the body of the spider.) Then, the final "small bowl" layer I laid on the cake board next to the "body". This became the head. Then I used fondant (with some gum-tex added) to mold the legs. I frosted it all black with a red " violin" shape on the spider's "back". Oh, I forgot to mention....I cut a hole in the center of the 10" and 9" layers after they were stacked, but before I added the 8". I put not-quite-set green jello in the hole then stacked the 8" on top. (You have to do all of this on the cake board itself because when you put the jello in, you can't move the cake around after that.)
Also, I used cinnamon discs for the eyes. It was a big hit. Wow...reading the directions makes it seem harder than it really is. It's actually very easy. Just idea....maybe it will give you more ideas....Good luck!

Last year I had my daughter birthday on Halloween and what I did is I bought the wilton 3d pumkin cake pan. Baked a double 1/4 sheet cake. Then I made picket fences out of fondant and ghosts out of white chocolate. I went to the store and found these really neat spiders for the cake. I frosted it a deep purple black color. Put the pumkin in one corner, it takes up a lot of top then had vines come down and around the picket fences with small leves. Draw spider webs and then set the ghosts and spiders. you can also do a single 1/4 sheet cake. have fun
