i prefer wilton's no taste red. one reason being, it's readily available at walmart instead of me having to drive an hour away for americolors. the other reason being, i'm allergic to regular red food dyes and wilton's no taste is the only one that doesnt set off a reaction in me. but this is just my opinion, so hopefully someone else will chime in here...good luck with the cake! 
Americolor hands down..I realize that Wilton may be easier to find but you will end up using 2 or 3 bottles instead of a few squirts of Americolor.If you can find americolor..I would buythe Super Red.

We prefer powdered food coloring, it contains no other ingredients (the glycerin in liquid or gels can sometimes cause allergic reactions). You'd probably have to buy it online though.

Hi!! I made a Super Mario cake & had trouble getting the red just right. I tried no-taste red by Wilton first, but that was a no-go. I then tried Super Red from Americolor & still couldn't get it right. Finally, I added Red Red by Wilton and it came out perfectly. (all three colors together) You can look at my pics & see the close up of the "bad guys" to see the red I got. I'm not sure how far henderson is from you, but Hobby Lobby carries Americolor products. HTH!!
