The best edible printers are the Canon. THey have the removable printhead which allows you to clean a clog should you get one. I recommend the gold label inks as they are spongeless which allow you to use all the ink in the cartridge while giving you beautiful prints.

Right now, the two best printers are the Canon MP560 which has a scanner and printer all in one unit or the Canon ip3600 which is just the printer. So if you already have a scanner, use the ip3600. If you dont, go with the mp560. Or which ever price is better.

Agreed! The mp560 is the way to go!

IMO, Canon is the way to go.
I have a CanonIP4700. Works great!

Update on printers, we recently came out with the newer series of printers that have our Elite cartridges. They use the same ink and same greats spongefree cartridges as the gold label, but they fit the new printers. I love the mp560 and ip3600 as explained above, but the newer printers are faster and produce the same great pictures! The new printers are Canon mg5220 and ip4820.

Now all we need is a printer and cutter in one!!! That would be awesome!

That would be awesome! but it would be a maintenance nightmare! But the Silhouette does have a print and cut feature that is pretty easy to do for the computer literate! But watch our website, we will be coming out with a new product later this year that is absolutely easy wonderful. Stay tuned!

hey guys I was just hoping for a little advice from some people that probably know a lot more than me about this stuff. I've never bought a printer and I'm not entirely sure what I'm looking for, but I know I want a good all-in-one printer and I don't want to spend a million bucks, just like anybody right? I found this site http://www.squidoo.com/best-all-in-one-printers2 and I'm leaning towards the Epson Expression Home XP-400 Inkjet Printer, I've read a lot of reviews but I was hoping to get some instant feedback from you guys about Epson or that exact printer and let me know what you guys think before I make the purchase? Thanks a lot!

I am considering an edible image printer right now. Since this thread has been around awhile, I am wondering which is the best canon printer at this time to buy. I am sure they have come out with newer models since the original post. Do the new models also have the removable print head? Appreciate any advice.

The best printer on the market is the Canon MG5320. This printer has the removable printhead in it. The newer Canon Models do not have the removable printhead, make refilling difficult and do not allow the icing sheet to come straight through the printer.

ADebbie,
I've been looking for a MG5320 and having a difficult time finding one, or at least one in my price range. Do you have any other suggestion for printers? My last one just died and, of course, was out of warranty.

HI Minnie,
While the 5320 is my favorite printer and we do sell it, we do have cartridges for the newer series Mg5420 printer as well.
Before buying a printer, please check with our office to make sure it is not something we can help you with.

AHi, Debbie.
Just took a look at your website. Can you tell me a little bit about the performance of the Canon wide format in comparison to the 5320?
Is the main difference the paper capacity or is there also a difference in the output of the image?
Your posts on this thread have been super helpful.
Many thanks!

Hi,
The 5320 prints up to 8.5x14" when it is hooked up to the computer. It only prints up to 8.5x11 when it is used like a copier with out the computer. It is a wireless printer as well. The wide format prints the large sheets that are A3, it does not have a scan bed. So if you need the large sheets, that is the only reason to invest in the wide format, otherwise you will be happy with the Elite 5320. The quality is equal between both printers. Please let me know if you have any questions and we will be more than happy to help us. You are always welcome to call and we will be glad to help you.
Thank you

AHi Debbie,
I am in the market for an edible ink compatible printer. I noticed you carry inks for the 5320 and the 5420. I am wondering whether those inks will work with any CL250/251 regular ink printer or only with the aforementioned printers. Also do you happen to have inks for the 8820 or 6220? It seems real difficult to find the older printers which use the sponge less inks. Do you have any suggestions on current affordable models?
Thank you so much for all the info you share on this board.

The current series printers use the 250/251 cartridges. and while our cartridges will work with any printer that uses those, be careful because we don't carry a gray. We only carry the two black, cyan and magenta. Those cartridges do have an inner sponge. The printers that use the series cartridges that have no inner sponge are harder to find. We have about 5 left of the mp5320 which I love. THe ix6520 also works and is still rather easy to find. I hope this helps.

AI just bought an epson c88+. I have the printer already and really like it to print regular things. So I bought another one for the edible imaging.

It kind of depends on you. You can go out and purchase the printer from a local retailer and buy the supplies separately like from a company like ours. Or you can purchase Edible printing kits from a company like ours. It does cost a bit more, but we warranty the printer with the edible inks. If you go on your own, please make sure that before you purchase the printer on your own that you get a printer that is compatible. We recommend Canon products because of the removable printhead. Also, the newer printers have bottom tray feeders and some icing sheets do not work well with them. Our icing sheets are flexible and withstand cracking more than other brands making it work better with those type of printers. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thank you
