I'm so annoyed. A few months back I sent DH out to buy cake flour (among other items) for me and he came home with a box of Swan's Down. Great. Now for the past four weeks or so, I've been looking for it again and can't find it. DH doesn't remember where he bought it and I've looked at all the local places where he would've gone and a few further away. Still no luck. I've only been able to locate and purchase self-rising cake flour.

Luckily I was able to make a substitution for it in a recipe and it worked well (first time using that recipe from The Cake Book and my DH is still raving about it - it was gooooooood), but I'd rather have the flour for future use than having to use the substitution that I found online.

Anyone know where in Northern NJ I can purchase this? TIA

They may have it at Kings Supermarkets.

Hi Sugar Plum, I have found self rising and regular Swan's Down cake flour at my local Shop Rite, next to the regular flour.

Oooh, Vicki, I totally forgot about them, and they're local too. He probably went there and forgot. I usually just blow them off because I think they're expensive.

Thanks, vww104. I did try two different local ShopRite's and unfortunately they only had the self-rising one in the blue box (can't remember the name off hand, but it begins with a "P" I believe). Oh well, I'll be in Fanwood tomorrow and I'll check the local Shop Rite on my way home fromt he dentist's office. Thanks again. Sometimes I really miss Union county, especially Trader Joe's. Hmmmm...wonder if they have it.

I just checked my box, it is Swans Down all purpose cake flour in the red box. Good luck!

Thanks again. I had to cancel my appointment so I didn't make it into Union County today, but I know I'll be that way eventually. I'll check then. BTW, the other one in the blue box is Presto self-rising cake flour. The one my hubby had gotten for me was the Swan's Down (that's the one he can't remember what store he purchased it from).

Sorry I can't help, but I was amused by this--a few weeks ago I was posting because self-rising cake flour is not available down here. Swans Down is all over the place. Wonder why that is?

Stupid marketing departments with their dumb demographics!!!

Hey, how about I buy you all the self-rising cake flour you want and you can get me all the regular cake flour I want (when they are all on sale, of course icon_lol.gif )and then we can mail them to eachother?! icon_wink.gif

Is there a Gordon Food Service in your area? They sell 50# cake flour for $20.00 If not try to see if they have a website. They never have it in their stores but I order it from them.

Thanks, cakenutz, I did check their website. As it turns out there aren't any stores in the NorthEast. As for delivery, I'm a hobbyist so it doesn't pay for me to have 50 lbs on hand. I appreciate your help though.
