Wanting to do a peace cake with tye dye colors using one bag...Any hints??

I haven't tried it, but I've been told to put different colored buttercreams in the bag. One color on one side, next color next to it and so on. When you squeeze out, you should have multicolored buttercream. As long as you don't mash it up a lot, the colors shouldn't mix together. Good luck!

Go to utube and search for serious cakes. She has a video tutorial showing how she did a tie die cake that is too cute.

Ooh thanks! I actually need this a 60th birthday for this weekend!

I've never had good luck putting all the different colors directly into the same bag. (The colors get mushed together or I get too much of one color and none of another. It's always a big mess!) Instead, I put each color into a small bag (one color per bag) and snip the ends off. Then I drop each of those bags into a larger one, fitted with the decorating tip I want to use. Make sure the cut ends of the smaller bags are pointing down toward the tip. This way is much cleaner and has always worked well for me.

An old-school way to do it is to brush a streak of each of your colors in icing color on the inside of the bag near the tip, then fill it with the frosting. As you pipe, it rubs against the gel and colors as it comes out. I did a red, blue, yellow and white rope border on a tie-dyed wedding cake last summer that looked good! I covered the rest of the 4-tier stacked cake with white buttercream and attached a whole lot of peace signs and flowers made of royal icing, and hand "dyed" with icing colors mixed with a little vodka.
