Can I Just Add Peanutbutter To The Chocolate Cake Batter?
Baking By chillysmommy Updated 13 Dec 2010 , 11:13pm by chillysmommy

Looking for an easy recipe for Chocolate and Peanut Butter cake. I hope to use the Chocolate WASC (box) and just add 1 cup of Peanut Butter. Will that do it? Will I get enough peanut butter flavor? Will it mess up the cake consistency? I plan on using ganache for filling/icing so I don't really want to add the peanut butter to that.
Any insight would be really appreciated!
Thanks,
michele

Heres a recipe I've used several times. It's pretty good...kids love it
3 1/4 c. all-purpose flour
2 1/4 c. sugar
1/4 c. cocoa powder (sometimes I use up to 1/2 c. just depends on my attitude that day!!)
1 tbsp. plus 1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. butter, softened
1/2 c. creamy peanut butter
1 1/2 c. milk
3 eggs
1 1/3 c. unsalted roasted peanuts, finely chopped (optional)
Combine first 5 ingredients in a large mixing bowl; mix well. Add butter, peanut butter, and milk; beat 2 minutes on medium speed of electric mixer. Add eggs; beat 2 minutes on medium speed. Fold in 1 1/3 cups chopped peanuts.
Bake at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes
As far as just adding PB to the WASC....I wouldn't see why you couldn't
