Making Neon Colored Fondant
Decorating By BetweenThePages Updated 22 Nov 2010 , 7:07pm by BetweenThePages

Im making a cake for a musicals cast party. The musical uses neon and brightly colored sets and props and they want the cake to be the same way. My cake will be coated in fondant and Ill be making various 2-D fondant cuts outs to apply to the side of the cake. I dont have an airbrush; I usually color my fondant with paste or dry food coloring. Any suggestions on how to make brightly colored/neon fondant?

The only bright colors I know are bright are Americolor electric colors. There are 6 colors in the set, two of each.

I have Americolor neon colors and I've also purchased neon GEL colors--NOT regular liquid food colors--made by Betty Crocker in the cake decorating section at a WalMart Super Center.
There are, as I recall, 4 tubes in the box and the colors worked very well.
On this cake, I used them for the fondant and the batter:

I believe that Duffs brand at Michaels has a neon gel color set...

Thanks for all of the suggestions! I ended up going with Duff Goldman's Electric Colors. They were wonderful. They're gell and the color is really vibrant.
