Hi,

I'm trying to come up with ideas for a Teacher Appreciation cake or appliques for cupcakes for my son's elementary school's Teacher Appreciation week.

I'm drawing a blank. Aside from an apple, what else would be really cute? Fondant kids holding hands around the bottom tier of a round cake with crayola crayons surrounding the second tier and a big thank-you banner on top?

Too cliche?

Cupcake would be easier since most teachers don't have time to sit still long enough to eat a piece of cake with a fork. It's the perfect get it and go treat!

Anything school would be perfect: crayons, scissors, glue, kids, apples

Even something fall themed would be good!

This was a relatively easy cake. I made a sheetcake that said thank you in various different languages in the centers of gerbera daisies.

the cake is here http://cakecentral.com/modules.php?name=gallery&file=displayimage&pid=1840951

the word in the center says thank you in Hebrew as I live in Israel and this was for teacher appreciation day (the last day of school icon_sad.gif )

you can do the same in cupcakes where each cupcake is a gerbera daisy and the center says thank you in a different language.

you can get a list of how to say thank you in different languages here at this link: http://users.elite.net/runner/jennifers/thankyou.htm

Enjoy and good luck!

A colleague of mine did the cutest cupcakes for school : each had a small apple, and a rectangle chocolate covered cookie or cracker to look like a chalk board, and she did the whole alphabet in upper/lower case: Aa, Bb, Cc, ect. she included a gumpaste 'chalk stick'. Darling.

I did an open book for teacher appreciation week. I then got a picture collage of all the teachers that the school had and printed an edible image for one side. On the other side of the book, I took a picture of the front of the school, made an edible image and put it on. It came out great.

Another year, I made a giant box of crayons, I think there is a tutorial on CC. That was a big hit too.

For my son's preschool teacher appreciation lunch I did a 2D shaped fondant covered replica of the schools logo with individual cupcakes below it with fondant letters spelling out "Thank You"

So many great ideas! I love the Hebrew idea because my kids go to a Jewish dayschool!
