Can I add apple pie filling to a yellow boxed cake mix? Should I leave out the oil if I do? I am going to spread apple jam on top of the cupcakes, and use cinnamon vanilla bean buttercream to add a lattice "crust" on top. I really want the cupcakes themselves to have that apple pie taste...any ideas? Thanks!!

I have mashed the apple pie filling with a potato masher until the chunks were small enough to go through a #12 pastry tip and then piped the apple pie filling into a spice cupcake and topped with caramel cheesecake mousse, they were amazing!!!
Haven't tried them IN the cake batter though, maybe if it doesn't work you could mash and squirt??

I might have to mash and squirt That mousse sounds AMAZING, KHalstead! Did you get the recipe online?

nah.......well, part of it I got on CC and the rest I made up lol
2 cups liquid Rich's Bettercreme
1 cup milk
1 box cheesecake pudding mix (that part I got on CC)
Then I add about 2 Tbsp. of vanilla caramel coffee creamer (powdered)
Then I usually drizzle some caramel ice cream topping over the top of the cupcakes for the extra yummy caramel effect! lol

I made up a pretty good apple pie cupcake recipe. A friend tried it in her baking crowd and they loved it too. I can PM you if you want!

Wow! Thank you KHalstead!! That sounds sooo good!
Would you, Amarilloyankee? That would be awesome!!

would LOVE IT!!! Thanks!!
Oh and just an FYI I was just at Dollar General and they have caramel flavored syrup in a bottle about the size of worcestershire sauce, near the coffee for only $1.00. I'm betting it would be FABULOUS in cake batter or icing!!

Sorry y'all just noticed the replies I will send out the recipe in the morning (from the computer).

I knew I shouldn't have read this forum. Now, I have another baking experimet to try. LOL! Your ideas sound incredibly yummy!!!

I made apple pie cupcakes this past week, and they were delicious. You first bake the cupcakes, then make the apple pie filling in a skillet. Then you cut a cone shape in the top of the cupcake and add the apple pie filling. I then made some extra caramel and drizzled that on top. They are in my pics.

I sent the recipe to those that asked. Hopefully y'all will like it. Its my first time ever making my own recipe
