Hey there! I am making a cake for a birthday and the family has requested to have an open bible on the cake. Anyone have any ideas where I could get an edible open bible or how to make one that looks somewhat classy?! I am willing to even go with a topper!!! Thank you!!!

So, you don't want the whole cake to be book-shaped? If you do, Wilton makes an open book pan. Or, other people just carve their own.

If you're just looking for a small Bible to put on top, I have no ideas. Sorry!

If you are trying to make a topper, I would follow the technique for making a pillow, kinda! Use scraps of cake and build up up on one side and lower on the other. You will need 2 of pieces and place them side by side then I would cover it with fondant to make it look more realistic. run a fork along the sides to create the look of pages. Add a small strip of fondant colored to create the ribbon. Hope this helps.

I,ve made an open bible using the wilton open pan.I have done this several times.I have also carved my own. Using the pan was easier.lol. I molded praying hands with a choclate mold for one side. Molded a cross for the other side. You can use modeling chocolate, fonddant, etc. or even just pour the melted chocolate.I piped some little flowers in the corners. or you can use r/i flowers or g/p flowers.I then wrote in a bible verse.I usually ask what the recepients favorite bible verse is. it is always a hit. hth

I did a bible cake in my pics. I used the wilton pan like icer101. If you just want it small I don't see why you couldn't use rkt covered in fondant or straight fondant/gumpaste.
