put cake for roof on cakeboard that is as much bigger than the cake below as you want the roof to hang over.
so if cake below is 8x8 and you want 2 in eaves on just two sides -- you'd need a cakeboard that was 8x12.
and a little diagram to visualize how to get the peaked roof
(trick is cutting just 1/4 of width wide -- for steeper peak -- do two layers tall and still cut on 1/4 of width)
