How Do I Make An Open Book Cake?

what size pan would u use? also, would it better to use buttercream of fondant? i'm probably going to have to carve this too, right?

any suggestions would help.

template to help with the carving:

use any size pan (9x13, 11x15 etc) to get the servings you need.

blow up template to go along the LONG side of the cake.

cover in BC or fondant (carve deeper if doing fondant so you don't loose the dent)

remember -- carving will lower the number of servings so may one to go one size larger on pan than actually needed.

You can buy or rent an open book cake pan too if you don't like to carve.
