I've never attempted coffee frosting before but my future FIL is coming for a visit Tuesday night and he told me that his favorite cake is spice cake with coffee frosting. I can handle the spice cake part but I've never made a coffee frosting. I need a great recipe so any help would be appreciated! TIA

You can try dissolving 1-2 Tb of instant coffee with 1 Tb of very hot water. Add it to your favorite icing recipe to taste. I made some with IMBC on Friday; it was awesome!

I use instant coffee (International foods mocha flavor and Bustello instant espresso) to transform my regular BC into mocha or espresso BC. I use just enough hot water to make a thick paste (about like toothpaste) of the instant coffee powder and then mix that in with the BC. Sorry, I can't give measurements, I never do this with a whole batch, so I always just do it to taste (add a little, then taste and add more if you think it needs it; it's always easy to add more, but you can't take it out!).

Thanks both of you. I LOVE coffee (drink almost 2 pots every day) but I'm not a fan of anything coffee flavored. I guess I will try adding the coffee to my BC for taste but since I don't like it I'm afraid I won't get it right. Well, guess it's worth a shot. Thanks again!
