Would like to know if anyone has any ideas on doctoring Canned Frosting. Have about 10 cans and don't want to throw it away cause no one likes it in my family.
Anyway to get it to taste kinda homemade.

Don't know, maybe mix it half and half with homemade? It will cut the canned taste.

If your family doesn't like it and you don't want to let it go to waste, what about donating it to a shelter or food bank??

If it's the white buttercream frosting you can mix it with 1 cup of whip cream and whip it up, then you put it on a white cake with some chocolate drizzle and it is so yummy that way. It's my husbands favorite cake.

I've added it to my buttercream before and absolutely hated it. Now, i've been known to eat the stuff right out of the container before, so it's not the taste itself that i hated. It's how it made the texture of my buttercream. It added soooo many air bubble to it that thankfully when i made it, it was gonna be used on a cake covered in kitkats and m+m's. It would've been impossible to smooth. Plus i found it overpowered the icing and made it wayyyy too sweet. Next time i would rather add in some melted chocolate or cocoa powder to make chocolate buttercream. Never again will i add the premade frosting from the store. I believe i had used BC chocolate fudge icing.
On another note...I have a fabulous receipe for a bundt cake and the finishing touch is to melt a can of that ready made icing and pour it over the top of the cake. It hardens slightly..but.. It is heat sensitive and will drip down to a puddle if it's too warm, but otherwise it's a nice easy topping for the bundt. If you are interested i can share the recipe.

A friend of mine bakes a great sour cream pound cake and she frosts it with canned vanilla frosting to which she adds 1 cup powdered sugar and a teaspoon of vanilla...it's pretty awesome!

What flavor is it? We were moving the day after my son's graduation from 8th grade several years back and on a whim I grabbed frozen cream puffs at Sam's and a couple of cans of chocolate fudge frosting. I nuked the frosting, dipped in the cream puffs and they were a HUGE hit. People gushed over how good they were.. I really pulled that off!!

Awhile back this webpage was posted for a recipe for frosting dough. I have not tried it so not sure how it tastes or how well it works. Here is the webpage........

Here is the recipe........
Frosting Dough:Stir 1⁄2 cup canned vanilla or white frosting and 1 1⁄2 cups confectioners sugar in medium bowl; knead until a smooth dough forms. Wrap airtight in plastic wrap until ready to use. Store at room temperature. Makes 1 cup.
