Has anyone used dulce de leche as a cake filling? Does it hold up? I have a customer that wants that as a flavor. I'm worried it will soak into the cake too much. Thanks!

We, Costarricans, always use it in our cakes, we love it and it is very stiff to be hold on the cake. I recommend it a lot, both together the cake and the dulce de leche are great and delicious!

I've used Dulce de leche as filling for white cake. Dulce de leche is very sweet, so you dont want to put too much. If I'm going to make a 2-3 layers with filling, I usually put one layer of dulce de leche filling and on the other I use vanilla pudding. It also depends on what the person likes, I also make tres leches cake with dulce de leche filling and it comes out very good.
Good luck icon_smile.gificon_smile.gif

I use this recipe, it is awesome; it gives the dulce the leche taste but is not that sweet.
