I find that sometimes I have about a cup of extra frosting and I don't really want to bake something else in the same week. I hear cream cheese and buttercream don't freeze well. And I don't really want a freezerfull of mismatched frostings.

Do you have other ideas for frosting ( fruit, breakfast, combined with store bought items etc?)

thanks!

My dh and ds love to spread real butter buttercream on hot toast, cinnamon rolls, waffles, etc. Flavored buttercreams are even more interesting for this purpose. An absolute favorite was maple buttercream on pancakes.

My kids love to spead the buttercream on their toaster studlers (hope that how you spell it). They say it taste much better than the icing that comes with it. It's really good on the apple ones!

When I was growing up watching my aunt decorate cakes she would always put the leftover icing between to graham crackers and put them in the fridge. I would always sneak in the back door and get some and run out.. and so my addiction to buttercream was born!! I still do this now.

I let my kids "practice" with leftover icing in bags. Shell borders, writing, figure piping, etc.... Just flip over cake pans and let them go to town.
