Does anyone know anywhere I could find some temtplates for practicing piping? The little girl next door (12) has been begging me to teach her how to decorate cakes so she can make her Mum a special birthday cake next month so I thought I'd find some practice templates for her to have a go with, now I can do the letter type ones easily on the computer but thought I'd be able to find some more exciting but reasonably basic bits for her to have a go at to but can't find much of anything.

Would love some basic scrolls and starts etc and also some animals or similar that can be printed out and put under acetate to copy as such so she can get used to pressure and speed etc.

Any ideas????

Cheers Andi

can you get a hold of the wilton class 1 and 2 books? they have the practice sheets in them that i cut out of the book, i lamenated mine so i could practice right on it or you could buy the little practice board, which is just a card board covered in plastic and has a clear plastic sheet attached so that you can put the practice sheet that you cut out of the book in between and practice you piping on it.

Thanks for the tip but Wiltons isn't terribly well known here In NZ unless your in the know so I've certainly never seen any class books, infact I'd never even heard of the classes untill I came on here lol.

I might have a play with clip art or something and see if I can come up with anything myself I guess.

Thank you so much! I will be teaching a course for kids next week and this sheet is exactly what I need. I had been planning on making copies of some of the Wilton practice sheets, but thought they would look bad when copied in black & white and color copies would be too $$$!

They sell a practice board set at Michaels - all the sheets are in it. I'm not sure of the price, probably around $10, and of course you can use their 40% or 50% off coupons.

Michaels is a craft store, but I think you might be able to order it online directly from Wilton.

I just checked, here's the link but they are out of stock.

I once took an informal non-Wilton class. What they did was take a photograph of their own piping, print and laminate it, and have us pipe over that. The laminating made it possible to wipe it off and start again.
