I was so excited to try out my new pans, that I forgot to add the oil to the cake! I used a box, white cake mix. It's already completely baked and cooling...what is it going to be like? I am so mad. icon_mad.gif

It probably won't be too good. When I was a kid, my mom (who is not the most talented in the kitchen) left the oil out of a cake in order to make it healthier. From what I remember, the cake ended up being very flat and dense. It ended up being a much healthier alternative to regular cake because none of us ate it!

Lol, yeah, I just popped it out of the pan, and it feels like a brick! And when it was baking, I was so proud of myself, because it was baking so level. Thanks!

Oh, keep it. Slice it thin. and serve it as a dessert crostini or bruschetta with a nice dice of fruit. That might be a hit at a party.

I have never forgot the oil but I once forgot the 3rd set of eggs I needed to add. Remembered that when the cake was about have done, it did turn out good though. Hope this isn't the opening for me to forget my oil! LOL princess.gif

those box mixes are pretty forgiving, if it was duncan h. white, it hardly uses any oil to begin with...it'll be ok, if you don't tell your peeps they might not notice.

It will be very dry. Torte it in half and soak the cut sides with flavored simple syrup using a pastry brush. That's what I'd do.
