I've been asked to make a cake for 40 people that incorporates a high school graduation and going into the army. The girl's favorite color is pink, the school colors are maroon and light blue.

Can anyone help me come up with some ideas? I've found a few army cakes and a few graduation cakes that I like - but I'm really not sure about putting the themes together in a visually pleasing way. I'd love to hear any ideas!

how about something like stairs from HS grad to the Army and an American flag a top the stairs. Wording like maybe from a girl to a women ...the future is now. Maybe using the pink to b.d.u's trailing on the stairs.. rambling.........

How about a pink/maroon/light blue camouflage pattern? With a diploma and tassel on the top and maybe the message could be Congratulations! Be all that you can be!

Geesh - that sound like me 9 years ago - out of HS and into the Army. What is her job in the army? That might give you a better idea. Like, if she's going into air traffic control (my choice), you could have a field of flowers transitioning into an Army Airfield, with a helicopter (the hotwheels ones are pretty realistic) and an Army building with a flag flying?

Her job is going to be "supply keeper".

The idea of the multi-color camo sounds interesting. And I like the message ideas.

Keep those ideas coming please. icon_smile.gif

Okay now the client has really thrown me for a loop.

She wants three tiers - one with the flag of Kazakhstan, the American flag, and an airplane,

The second tier with "something graduation"

And the third tier with a "bomb shelter" - which basically looks like a big gray hill or half-ball shape with a little area cut out of the side of it (I'm guessing where people enter and exit it...)

?????????????

How do I make this look decent?

and I don't even own a bakery - this is a friend of my husband's! I'm thinking maybe I can do the khazakstan flag as the first tier (light blue with an eagle like shape on it), then have the second tier an "abstract" American flag - white with red and blue stars, and then I'm still not sure how to make this "bunker" look good on top.....

totally ignores the plane...but I don't think that's 100% necessary....

I'm still very very very open to ideas!!!

What about a young man dressed like he was in his cap and gown , walking through a door and the parts that are through the door are in uniform. Split the cake in half so they have a totally different feel on each side.

Well, then take out young man and insert young woman. lol. The cake basically has 2 sides. one is the life of a young high school girl. In the middle of the cake the color changes and she is walking across the cake into her new life in the military. If she is in stride, the front half of her body has her uniform on and the parts that are still in high school are wearing a cap and gown. I can see it in my head can't you read my mind?? hehe sorry could not help it. OORRR, you can do a cake that is either round or octagonal even square. Each side or panel has her moving forward through schooling, then graduation, then entering the military. If you can put it on a turntable for the party she will actually move with the cake as it turns. Know what I mean???
