I'm doing a cake tasting and the bride to be is not sure what flavors she wants. I'm looking for great cake and filing combination's. If you wouldn't mind I'd like to know some of your most popular combination's. It's a Summer wedding so I'm looking towards summer flavors.TIA

vanilla cake with strawberry filling is what everyone seems to be asking me for.

Nearly all the wedding/occasion cakes I do are my White Velvet Cake with seedless raspberry filling. Although you can never please every taste in a crowd, this combo is pretty universally liked.

White velvet or almond cake with raspberry filling
White velvet or Fr. van. w/ strawberry buttercream filling
THese are my most popular, and as mentioned, look very pretty when cut. For summer weddings, I also suggest lemon cake with either lemon BC or raspberry filling. Lemon is very refreshing during warm weather.

Triple Chocolate Fudge w/ chocolate ganache<<<<ultimate chocolate lovers cake
Strawberry Supreme w/ strawberry butter cream<<<<perfect for summer
Coconut Cream cake w/ pineapple filling<<<< my personal fav

Thanks To all you Wonderful CC'rs you have helped me greatly.
If anyone else has popular cake and icing flavor combination's please
list them.
Thanks again

My #1 combination is white cake with red-raspberry filling.
If she likes lemon cake, that goes great with red-rasp also.
And both of these are really pretty when the cake is cut.
Ditto!
I make my white cake & my buttercream icing with a teaspoon of almond extract to go with the raspberry filling.
Also, my most popular filling among adults is cookies & cream.
A filling I have been making lately is pineapple--sounds weird but really dresses up a basic yellow cake.

My personal fav is chocolate cake with fresh raspberry filling, sometimes if they're too expensive, I'll buy the canned stuff and add one container of fresh and doctor it up.
I also love chocolate cake with a coffee or mocha buttercream, hazelnut (nutella) or peanut butter buttercream and cookies and cream. Vanilla always goes well with any berry filling especially for summer.
Can you tell I really like chocolate cake

lindambc - would you mind sharring your white chocolate mud cake recipe? That sounds fabulous! I've tried a few white chocolate cake recipes but none of them taste like white chocolate at all.
